Extremely rare .925 sterling silver cigarette case made in Birmingham in 1806. This was produced by Birmingham's Deakin and Francis company. Founded in 1786, they are still operated by the same family to this day. Amazing hand etched designs throughout. Has the ornate initials "BMF" on the front.
Hallmarks indicate the case was made from sterling silver (lion symbol), in Birmingham (anchor symbol), by Deakin and Francis (D&F symbol), in the year 1806 (small letter i). References for all hallmarks can be cross-referenced below. They are located on the inside of the case. It even still has the original cloth (I believe it is made of silk) band to hold cigarettes in place.
Clasp and hinge work perfectly. Excellent condition for being 215 years old. Measures approximately 3 1/4" x 2 3/8". Will fit small hand-rolled cigarettes.
